In this artist's book, a successive series of images unfolds dedicated to both the earthly, telluric landscape and the sensation of the details of brushstrokes and close-ups of my sketchbooks. The photographic landscape images come from my image archive that has been built up since 1995. The inspiration for this publication comes from a poem from the poetry collection Transcultureel (1981) by Gertrudes Johannes Resink (1981), in which he connects personal memories of his youth in Java, Indonesia to the mythical Indonesian landscape. The images constantly shift between extremes: from the vast landscapes, polaroids of American landscapes, black and white slide shots of sea and rocks to abstract close-ups of brushstrokes.

Rif, schuim, strand, savanne, heuvel, vulkaan
In opgaande lijn. Bij het teruggaan
Wordt dat berg, tjot, gras, zand, zee en koraal.
Boven alles blijft onomlijnd lucht staan
